Maia and her 4 children had been residing at The Women’s Refuge for 2 months and were referred to Monte Cecilia by Work and Income.  Prior to this, the family lived in WINZ emergency housing in Northland for 2 years.

Maia came into the Monte office accompanied by her support worker Sally from The Women’s Refuge.  As a single mother, she was in desperate need of stability for her children and had been unable to secure private rentals due to her bad credit history.  The Social Worker completed an in depth assessment with Maia. There had been history of domestic violence. All four children had a history of pneumonia.

Once the assessment was completed, Maia’s case was prioritized and she was immediately approved to go into one of Monte’s community social houses.  Without the prompt action of the Monte social work & housing staff this would not have been possible.  All in all, this was a great outcome for this Whanau.
