Frequently Asked Questions
What if I misplace my keys or lock myself out?
What you should do in this situation depends on whether you are in a transitional or community house.
Community House:
Under the Residential Tenancies Act tenants can engage their own locksmith to gain entry but if they need to change locks they must get permission from their Tenancy Manager. If they can't organise their own during business hours they should ring their Tenancy Manager. If the situation occurs afterhours, they can ring our 0800 624 848 line for after-hours support.
Transitional House:
If the situation occurs during business hours the tenant should ring their Tenancy Manager. If it occurs after hours they should call our 0800 624 848 line for after hours support
Who do I contact for emergency repairs?
If you have a situation that requires emergency repairs, please contact your Tenancy Manager if it is during business hours.
If it is outside business hours, call Monte Cecilia's main line (0800 624 848) and press 1 to be transferred to our on-call emergency maintenance person.
What do I do if I'm having trouble paying my rent?
If you are having trouble paying your rent, please contact your Tenancy Manager or Whanau Support Coordinator so discuss the matter, as there may be arrangements that can be made or assistance that is available.
Am I responsible for maintenance costs?
Tenants are responsible for any maintenance costs that arise because of damage they have caused (such as holes in walls, or stains). Landlords are responsible for covering the cost of maintenance that is required for standard wear and tear on the house (such as roofing, etc.).
How often are property inspections conducted?
Property inspections are usually conducted once a month for transitional housing, and once every three months for community housing. However, this can change depending on your situation, which will be communicated to you by your Tenancy Manager.
How do I make a noise complaint?
To make a complaint about excessive or unreasonable noise, please call 09 301 0101.
